Fall was in the air at the annual Wilson Montessori Fall Harvest Celebration on Saturday November 9, 2013 in Houston’s Cherryhurst neighborhood. The celebration was open to the community, and families from all ages around Cherryhurst (a subdvision of the Montrose super neigbhorhood) and 77006 and 77019 zip codes came out to enjoy the (rare) crisp, fall weather in Houston. The event featured a carnival theme on the Wilson Montessori campus with an array of games including cake walk, ring toss, face painting, and a color run to name a few. Kids of all ages also enjoyed a rock climbing wall, a bouncing castle, a petting zoo, and karaoke. Parents enjoyed iced coffee from local favorite, Black Hole coffee, pizza, popcorn, shaved ice and cotton candy (of course!). The fun-filled event ended with the ever-popular “Lantern Walk” around the neighborhood.
ULR (Urban Leasing & Realty) was honored to sponsor the face painting booth at this year’s Wilson Montessori Fall Harvest Celebration. From “angry birds” to spiderwebs, the face painting artists had requests for just about everything. ULR real estate agents, Katharine Plangman and Patty Conti lent a hand to the Wilson Montessori staff, assisting with collecting tickets and doling out carnival treats for the great afternoon in Cherryhurst. “The best part of the festival is getting to see how incredibly happy the kids are,” Katharine commented. “I agree,” Patty said “their faces just light up when they walk into the playground and see it transformed into a carnival”.
Wilson Montessori is a thriving public school nestled in the heart of Montrose. As a fully-integrated magnet Montessori school in the HISD, Wilson Montessori attracts families from all over Houston, TX. With fantastic staff, creative classrooms, dedicated parents, and eager students, it truly is a great part of the Montrose community. “Many clients looking to buy in the Montrose area inquire about Wilson Montessori while considering schools that their houses will be zoned to,” Patty said, “it’s great to get out here and get a chance to experience the school firsthand and get to know more of the staff and students”.
Not only was the Montrose school event fun for families and the kids, but it also helped raise funds for the school. “The community involvement and sponsorships of the local businesses like ULR, allow us to bring in fun activities like the rock wall,” organizer Hannah Jans said. If you couldn’t make this year’s Wilson Montessori Fall Harvest Celebration, the school offers other chances to get involved, with an upcoming Gala in March, 2014, as well as donation opportunities through purchases made at Randalls, Kroger and even Amazon. Thank-you to the staff for letting ULR be a part of the Wilson Montessori Fall Harvest Celebration–we can’t wait for next year!
