Mercedes-Benz of Sugar Land presents The Car Culture Invitational at Sugar Land Town Square, where Houstonians can feast their eyes on a wide variety of luxury and performance vehicles. In addition, Mercedes-Benz of Sugar Land brand ambassador and professional race car driver Kory Enders will be in attendance, along with his IndyPro vehicle.

2. SAWYER YARDS SECOND SATURDAY

On the second Saturday of each month, the artists of Sawyer Yards open their studios to the public. Spend the afternoon wandering through six repurposed warehouses and discover an extensive selection of painting, sculpture, jewelry, photography, clothing, textiles, printmaking, mixed media, and more. Meet the artists, learn about their work and add a new piece to your collection.

3. HOUSTON MUSIC & ARTS FESTIVAL AT PEARLAND

Come and enjoy major concerts, fine art displays, a classic car show, a custom motorcycle show, and dozens of fun attractions and highlights. Check out the Taste of Texas Food Garden, with delicious cuisine, and cold domestic and craft beers. National recording artists will be performing throughout the afternoon and evening on the main stage, as well as juried visual artists presenting the heritage and the culture of our great city. So, bring the whole family for a fantastic weekend of fun!

LEMON POUND CAKE

March 3rd is National Pound Cake Day! To celebrate here is a tasty pound cake recipe. If you make it tag us on Instagram @ulr_houston!

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 1/2 cups unsalted butter
  • 3 cups granulated sugar
  • 6 large eggs
  • 5 tbsp lemon extract
  • 3 tbsp sour cream
  • 4 tbsp Miracle Whip
  • 3 cups cake flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • Cooking spray

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Preheat oven 325° and grease a large tube pan with cooking spray.
  2. Combine butter and sugar in a large bowl and beat until creamy, 3 to 4 minutes. Add eggs one at a time, beating thoroughly until completely incorporated.
  3. Add lemon flavor, sour cream, and Miracle Whip and beat until combined. Then add cake flour and baking powder and mix until just combined.
  4. Spray tube cake pan with cooking spray. Transfer batter and bake until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean, about 1 hour and 30 minutes.
