The AIA Dallas Tour of Homes is Dallas’ only citywide home tour and the area’s only tour curated exclusively by architects. The event will showcase seven residences across Dallas. The two-day tour showcases some of the area’s most innovative and outstanding residential design created by several of the city’s most talented architects. Proceeds from the tour benefit AIA Dallas, the local chapter of the American Institute of Architects, which aims to advance architecture and design.

2. DALLAS TACO AND MARGARITA FESTIVAL

3.  2019 FORT WORTH PARADE OF LIGHTS

The Parade of Lights is held each year and features over 100 illuminated entries along with the lighting of the Fort Worth Holiday Tree. The popular event has been a Thanksgiving weekend mainstay until being moved to the weekend prior to Thanksgiving several years ago. Visitors can look forward to volunteers dressed as Cowboy Santas who collect toys, shopping, and dining downtown, Christmas delights like hot chocolate and more.

PUMPKIN BREAD PUDDING

It’s almost time for Thanksgiving! Here is a tasty dessert recipe sure to impress at any friends-giving or family get together.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 (14-oz.) loaf brioche
  • Butter, for pan
  • 3/4 c. packed brown sugar
  • 3 large egg yolks
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 (15-oz.) can pumpkin puree
  • 1 1/2 c. milk
  • 1 1/2 c. heavy cream
  • 1/4 c. bourbon, optional
  • 1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. kosher salt
  • 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp. ground ginger
  • Caramel, for serving

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. The day before: Slice bread into 1″ cubes and leave out overnight to dry out. (Alternately, place bread on baking sheet and bake at 200º for 20 minutes, then let cool.)
  2. Preheat oven to 350°. Butter a large baking dish. In a large bowl, whisk together sugar, yolks, and whole eggs. Add pumpkin, milk, cream, bourbon (if using), vanilla, and spices. Add bread and toss to combine. Let bread soak for 10 minutes
  3. Transfer mixture to prepared baking dish and bake until custard is set, 40 to 45 minutes. Let cool 20 minutes before slicing.
  4. Serve with caramel.
