I often frequent the River Oaks Shopping center for Starbucks and business meetings. While between meetings last year I came across a shop which is now one of my favorite women’s boutiques in Houston, KB Kasuals. Krista Burks, owner of KB Kasuals is basically there all the time! I don’t see how she does it! I’m not complaining though because I absolutely love going in and seeing the same familiar face over and over. After going in so many times, I really got to know Krista and her lovely story of how KB Kasuals came to be…
Krista Burks opened KB Kasuals back in September of 2012 after graduating from the University of Miami. She went on to work for a consulting firm and soon learned that being behind a desk wasn’t her thing. One of the things I admire most about Krista is that she had absolutely no experience in retail. All she had were visions in her head of what her boutique store would look like. Within one month, yes I said one month! Krista had the KB Kasuals lease signed and built out! Fast forward to today she is running one of the cutest women’s boutiques in the prestigious River Oaks.
Krista carries high end designers such as Paige, House of Harlow, Amanda Uprichard, Bailey 44, Wild Fox and one of my personal favorite… Blue Orchid. Krista is continually going to markets in Vegas, Dallas and New York to bring in up and coming fashion. I love that every time I go into the boutique there are new, unique styles.
With all the rage in the Woodlands now, Krista is currently in the process of opening another boutique in Hughes Landing of Lake Woodlands. The new KB Kasuals will resemble the River Oaks Store and is slated to open Spring of 2015. If you are in the area, you and your girlfriends should definitely check it out!
