Weekend Getaways from Houston

As much as we love Houston, sometimes we just need a change of scenery. New town, new faces, fresh air; it’s good for the soul! However we understand that we don’t always have the time to go somewhere extravagant. That’s why we believe these are the best places to get away for the weekend!

Galveston- Trip time: 1h 30m
Depending on the traffic, Galveston is the perfect trip if you’re wanting to not stray too far from home. From relaxing on the beach, to strolling down the Strand, to having fun at Pleasure Pier, there are so many things you can do down by the seawall!

Goodbye Houston, hello AggieLand! Though College Station is famous for their collegiate sporting events, there are plenty of other things to do around town. Visit the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum and learn everything you need to know about our 41st President. Or wind down at Messina Hof Winery. Maybe later on, see how Cstat celebrates a big win on Northgate!

Lake Charles-Trip Time: 2h 18m
The little Vegas of the South. Well I’m not sure if anybody calls it that, but you can bet there are plenty of casinos to gamble and play! However if that’s not your picnic, no worries there other things to do. You could explore the wildlife at the Creole Nature Trail or learn all about the city at 1 of the 7 museums!

Our state capital and the city that keeps things weird. Here in Austin, there are countless of things to keep you on your toes! For starters, there are various restaurants and dining options. Walk it off at Zilker Park and then take a quick dip at Barton Springs. When the sun goes down, check out 6th Street all the hoppin, poppin bars!

New Orleans-Trip Time: 5h 16m
Take it easy in the Big Easy! The atmosphere of this city is unbelievable. It is incredibly difficult to be down as you’ll find smiling, friendly & energetic people around every corner. Although known for the carousal on Bourbon Street, there are other spots to visit! Taste delicious beignets in the French Quarter. Wonder into the magical Garden District. Get spooky at the Voodoo Museum.
