“WINTERY MIX”
As Texans, we’re not use to this wintery mix and below 30 degree weather. We like it hot and whether we like to admit it, we probably prefer the humidity over this nonsense! If you don’t want to break the bank on the coldest month of season, we have a couple of tricks hidden up our sleeve to help you stay warm.
- Caulk your windows-for $2 at Target, you can make sure that there are no leaks or holes that allow Jack Frost to sneak in
- Draftstopper-this will aid with air coming in from gap between your door and floor, you can either buy one, make one or simply roll up a towel
- Use your blinds/curtains-when its sunny out, open them and when its dark, close them
- Rugs-lay down rugs on carpeted or tile floor, it’ll keep the heat from escape and it’ll be warmer to walk on barefoot
- Shower with the door open-if you can, leave the door open to allow the steam to travel throughout your home
- Bubblewrap-this is not the most attractive option, however putting bubblewrap on your windows can help cut heat loss
- Ceiling fan-reverse your fan’s rotation to clockwise to push the cold air up, which will then mix with the rising heat
- Invest in a programable thermostat-set your temperature according to your schedule. If you’re away at work, set your thermostat 7-10°F lower
- Bundleup-the easiest solution
