How to Spend Your Summer in Houston

Sweet, sweet summertime…have we missed you! If you got nothing planned this year, you’re in luck because Houston is filled with plenty of things to keep you entertained all summer long! Whether you’re coming from out of town, or you’re a native, there’s always something to explore.

Life’s a beach at Galveston Island
Spend your day or weekend at Galveston Island. There’s plenty of places to dine with fresh seafood, tons of bars along the Seawall and the Strand is perfect for finding unique souvenirs to bring back home. So if you are looking to move here we suggest do it NOW. You can ride bikes, go fishing or simply soak in the sun…just remember to wear sunscreen!!

Beach homes are great because it has a great view. They have a place to park. It’s not hard to get to. They’re a great value for money because they have everything you need and you can get a great view of the ocean. They’re affordable because you can rent them for as little as you can afford.

Fresh finds at the Farmers Market
There’s nothing better than eating fresh fruit and vegetables and knowing the where exactly you got them from. Houston offers several farmer’s markets that are open during the week. Click here to see where and when to find the best that food has to offer.

Discover Discovery Green
Discovery Green is the perfect park for those wanting to stay Downtown. From concerts, to movie screenings, to classes, restaurants this park has it all! Dog friendly and you can bring your own picnic as well.

Bike down Buffalo Bayou
Or bust out your bike and walking shoes and head over to the trails at Buffalo Bayou! This park provides a separate biking and walking trail, so you wont have to worry about a biker zooming towards you or vise versa. You can also explore different plants and learn about how nature works. If it gets too hot, rent out a kayak and paddle down the bayou.

Make your way to Memorial Park
These trails are perfect if you’re a little bit more adventurous! Or get a little team together and a have friendly, but competitive softball game. Or you can take off your shoes and play some sand volleyball!
